Elk on the Move

The elk, with its impressive antlers, moved purposefully from the riverbank toward the open field, compelled by an instinctive drive during the rut. The cool air carried the earthy scent of damp foliage and the distant calls of other elk, guiding him as he navigated the terrain. As he walked, he head was outstretched, his nose up in the air, trying to catch the smell of his small heram. Each powerful stride pushed him closer to the field where his female friends are grazing. His senses heightened, he scanned the surroundings for signs of his companions, eager to join them and assert his presence in the heart of the mating season. The rhythmic sound of hooves on the ground resonated in the stillness, a reminder of the urgency and determination that defined this time of year.
