Who, Me?
Going through the hills of West Virginia, I happened to see a few deer in the underbrush. I waited a few moments as they were carefully heading toward me, unaware of my presence. One of the deer, no more than 10 feet away, sticks her head out of the underbrush. I was able to capture this photo, of the doe whitetail deer in a moment of stillness, its large, expressive eyes locked onto the camera, conveying a sense of surprise or curiosity. Surrounded by lush foliage, the deer is partially obscured by leaves and branches, creating a sense of intimacy and concealment within its natural habitat. The intricate details of the fur and the soft play of light through the leaves enhance the overall composition, illustrating the delicate balance between the creature and its environment. This close-up shot invites the viewer to contemplate the serene yet alert presence of the deer, as it navigates the complexities of its world.
